What albums would you estimate that you've listened to the most in your life?
|
Obviously no one knows the answer to this for definite. But I'm sure most people would have a good idea. Obviously as we're mainly old farts on here, over 50, Obviously would be albums you got into in your teens or early 20s. Quite possibly albums you no longer listen to. Or albums that you've loved for decades and still play on a fairly frequent basis. A lot of people don't really listen to albums anymore, but I get the impression that a lot of people on WHO still do. I personally do stil tend to play albums about 80% of the time. Cone on, be honest. What would you say are your most listened to albums in your life (so far)

Good shout.
A couple of years’ ago, Arab Strap’s ‘As Days Get Dark’ was played almost incessantly.
Some obvious stand-out tracks but ‘Another Clockwork Day’ is particularly brutal.

To be fair I have always been like that. Been more of a film fan than music all my life. Was and still am a big Ultravox fan but just listen to my favourite tracks. Like a lot of other stuff from other bands but it's generally a song here and a song there. My music collection must be the smallest in the world whereas my DVD collection is the opposite! Funnily enough was in Crawley today and saw a big HMV store has opened again years after the last closed down. Lot of vinyl on sale so maybe the tide is turning again and people want the real thing rather than downloads?

ICome to thing of it I played the first two Suede albums a lot in the early 90s as I quickly grew tired of grunge. Dog Man Star is a bit of a flawed classic now too apparently.

Interesting - for me, at least - that a few posters have stated that they no longer listen to full albums any more, but simply "cherry-pick" the tracks they like.
I honestly thought that was just me and the influence of my life(style) over the last 30 or so years.
Up until my (2nd) divorce, I would play albums in their entirety but lost that drive through having no time to actually settle and dedicate an hour or two to do so, post 1992.
Even when I managed to settle myself down again (if 4 years in Muscat counts as settled) and ramp up the Hi-Fi, I still "cherry-picked".
When I finally nail myself down in my retirement drum, I shall have another go at listening to music by album, rather than by track, but suspect that there will only be a handful of albums (I deem) worthy of such attention.

boleyn8420 - I have to say I’m very surprised you claim to have seen Cream. You’d have been 10 or 11 to have even seen their last gig. If you did see them then you can count yourself very lucky.

I’ve very few albums I’d listen to in their entirety. Most albums have a few stand out tracks, but in order to listen to a whole album, it would have to be something like DSOTM or The Wall, that has a unique musical style.
Desperado, Hotel California, Manifesto and Avalon, Caravanserai, Welcome, Physical Graffiti, Sgt Peppers, and Scenario by Al Di Meola, Graceland by Paul Simon. Otherwise, it’s just selected best tracks.

Blimey, that's a great question. Depends which decade I guess. But when I really started to like music I was lucky enough (alive then) to go and see Cream, Led Zep, Free, Deep Purple and later Queen so albums like Disraeli Gears, Led Zep IV, Highway, and Machine Head and Sheer Heart Attack. Then when I was twenty (old man by then of course) Sex Pistols never Mind the Bollocks. Now at 67 its back to the classics or Country music, what an old git.
